2nd ANNUAL "PROMISE OF HOPE" WINE TASTING EVENT
May 15, 2009 - Courtyard by Marriott, Billerica, MA

We just wanted to follow up and share the results from our Wine Tasting ...
It was absolutely AWESOME! We had a fantastic turnout, over $7,000.00 worth of live/silent auction items and Raffles!

Thanks to our generous sponsors, item donors, guests and bidders, in ONE evening, we raised $11,128.18!!!!  Our "Think Zebra" theme was a BIG hit, and a great time was had by all!

We are absolutely astounded at the incredible support we continue to receive from our community even in the present state of our economy.  Your generous contributions have brought Team Hope's total raised to date to over $32,000.00!!!  It was a great night for PIDD families and for the IDF!

RED CROSS/CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL BLOOD DRIVES
April 18, 2009 - Chelmsford, Danvers & Methuen, MA

Well, this was our first attempt at running multiple blood drives in multiple locations simultaneously, and we are pleased to say that we are very happy with the results!

We partnered with the Red Cross in Methuen and in Danvers, and despite an unusually high number of deferrals, we still managed to collect 52 pints of blood between those two locations.  Thanks so much to all of you who made the trek and came out to donate or help out (especially Barbara and Moriah)!

Our Chelmsford Drive with the Children's Hospital Bloodmobile was also a great success!  Despite 10 deferrals, we collected 37 pints of blood for Children's Hospital, brining our grand total for the day to ....... drum roll please...... 89 pints!!!

We couldn't be happier and more grateful to our very dedicated group of donors.   Thank you once again for all of your support!

RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE
February 7, 2009 - Billerica, MA

We just wanted to thank you all for such an amazing turnout at the blood drive! Every act of kindness - whether it was purchasing raffle tickets, donating your time, forwarding emails, telling friends and family about the drive, or actually getting out to donate last weekend - It meant so much to us to have your support behind us!

We'd like to recognize some people who helped make our Blood Drive possible:
First of all, we'd like to thank our friends and families - for standing by us, helping us out, and supporting us in all of our endeavors!   We'd like to say a special 'Thank You' to St. Mary's Church for allowing us to use their space at no charge!
Thank you to Billerica Dunkin Donuts for their donation of coffee and donuts that kept us all going in the morning!  Thank you to the staff of the Red Cross for working with us and making this possible.

We had 67 people walk through the door and go through the screening process to see if they were eligible to donate blood. All in all, we had 63 usable pints!  It was well worth it!  If you do the math - every pint of blood donated can help up to 3 adults or 4 children - so Saturday alone, our donors helped between 189 - 252individuals!  What a GREAT feeling that is! I hope our donors are proud of doing such a fantastic thing!  We appreciate EVERY single person that walked through that door.

Congratulations to Helene K. who won our 50/50 raffle!  The proceeds have been donated to the Immune Deficiency Foundation.  Thank you for your generosity!

Thank you ALL again for your continued support!

IDF PATIENT & FAMILY EDUCATION MEETING
September, 2008 - Shrewsbury, MA

What a great day!  Once again, we gathered together patients and families from all over New England for an educational meeting and networking session....

We had fantastic talks given by Dr. Bonilla and Dr. Butte where we learned all about the inner workings (or non-workings in our case) of the Immune System, and also about the incredibly exciting research toward a cure that is currently happening right here in Boston!

The kids enjoyed a special program that included games, a magic show and time to get to know other kids like them... a great time was had by all!

RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE
July 26, 2008 - Billerica, MA

Just wanted to follow up with a HUGE thank you to all of you who supported us for our first Blood Drive in Billerica.  The drive went really well for our first run!  We had 53 people walk through the door to donate (which, it was the FIRST sunny nice day in SUCH a long time....this was a great turnout!!!).  Some donors were deferred - which left us 47 total usable pints.  Not too shabby!!!

We are just SO grateful for EVERY single person who came out, helped or donated items (food/raffles) for the event.  In particular, we'd like to thank Dunkin Donuts for their donation of donuts & coffee.... Lisa and Alex DiOrio, and Cathy and Morgan Riley for volunteering their time.  We couldn't have done it without all of YOU!  Your commitment to our cause means SO much to us!!!

RED CROSS/CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL BLOOD DRIVE
May 17, 2008 - Chelmsford, MA

Thank you to everyone who helped to make this combined blood drive such a wonderful success!  We sincerely appreciate all of you who gave of your time to help us out, and support our efforts once again!

For the first time, we brought the Red Cross, Children's Hosipital Boston, and DKMS Americas together in one location for our "Drive for Hope" in Chelmsford.  On this day alone, we facilitated the collection of 40 pints of blood for the Red Cross and  32 pints of blood for Children's Hospital Boston.  And if that weren't enough we also registered 21 brand new bone marrow donors with the help of DKMS Americas!  We are so pleased with these results and look forward to partnering with DKMS again soon!

Special thanks to Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks for the coffee and treats that were donated, and to all of you who helped make this drive a success!

We'd like to recognize some people who have gone beyond the call of duty:  First of all, we'd like to thank our friends and families - for standing by us, helping us out, and supporting us in all of our endeavors!   We appreciate all of you who helped us spread the word about our event and about PIDD, purchased tickets, posted fliers, and donated your time.  A special 'Thank You' to Salvatore's  for sponsoring this event and providing all of the wonderful food.... Thank you to all of the wine vendors who graciously donated their time and wines for our enjoyment... Thank you to Joe's Attic for an evening of fabulous music.... Thank you to Steve DiOrio for helping us out as Auctioneer and making it possible for us to raise so much money... Thank you to all of the businesses and friends and family that donated items for our auction.... we had over $6000.00 worth of items in our auction and this was just amazing... And a giant thank you to everyone who showed up and bid on all of our wonderful auction items.

Thanks to all of you for making this such a successful event!  Your generosity is overwhelming!!!

RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE
March 16, 2008 - Chelmsford, MA

We just wanted to thank you all for a great turnout at the blood drive!  To all those who helped...- whether it was putting up fliers, donating items for raffle, purchasing raffle tickets, donating your time, forwarding emails, telling friends and family about the drive, or actually getting out to donate blood- It means so much to us to have your support behind us!   Thanks to Senator Kerry's appearance, we enjoyed some wonderful local news coverage.  The first of a few articles appeared in today's Lowell Sun.

We'd like to recognize some people who have made great contributions for this blood drive:  First of all, we'd like to thank our friends and families - for always being there through all the good and bad times....We'd like to say a special 'Thank You' to Sal's Pizza for sponsoring this drive and providing pizza to all our donors... Thank you to Chelmsford Dunkin Donuts for their donation of coffee and donuts .... Thank you to the staff of the Red Cross for working with us and making this possible .... Thank you to Chelmsford Community Center and the Janitor on duty for allowing us to do this drive using their facility....And a giant thank you to Senator Kerry for taking on the 'Medicare IVIG Access Act of 2008' . . . we are thrilled to finally have the leader we need in Washington to fix the reimbursement problems for IVIG!

We had 183 people walk through the door and go through the screening process to see if they were eligible to donate blood (the Red Cross averages 50-70 donors max per drive usually).  Since our last drive was so incredible, the Red Cross came with extra beds this time, so there was a very short wait, and things ran very smoothly.  All in all, we had 141 usable pints!  It was an INCREDIBLE turnout!

Remember - every pint of blood donated can help up to 3 adults or 4 children - so Sunday alone, our donors helped between 423- 564 individuals!  How amazing is that??  I hope our donors are proud of doing such a fantastic thing yesterday!  We appreciate EVERY single person that walked through that door.

We also raised almost $1,000.00 for the Immune Deficiency Foundation with the raffles and met a lot of really great people!  Thank you ALL again for your continued support!

RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE
October, 2007 - Chelmsford, MA

We just wanted to thank you all for such a great turnout at the blood drive!  Every act of kindness - whether it was putting up fliers, donating items for raffle, purchasing raffle tickets, donating your time, forwarding emails, telling friends and family about the drive, or actually getting out to donate today - It meant so much to us to have the support of the community behind us!   We really DO believe that ONE person CAN make a difference.....each person involved helped us - and made a difference and proved us right!

We'd like to recognize some people who have made a great impact on Team Hope - First of all, we'd like to thank our friends and families - for standing by us, helping us out, and supporting us in all of our endeavors!  We'd like to say a special "Thank You" to Sal's Pizza for sponsoring this drive and being SO wonderful to all of us every step of the way! Your dedication to those in need in your community is amazing!  Thank you to the staff of the Red Cross for working with us and making this possible.  Thank you to Chelmsford Public Schools and the Janitor on duty today for allowing us to do this drive using their facility!

Okay, here are the stats:  The blood drive was from 9-2 and people started showing up at 8:45 .  People were just finishing up at about 3 p.m.  We had 135 people walk through the door and go through the screening process to see if they were eligible to donate blood.  Towards the end, there were just SO many people that we had to turn away 18 potential donors because the Red Cross was running out of supplies!!!!  All in all, we had 115 usable pints!!!!!   It was a TOTALLY amazing turnout!

If you do the math - every pint of blood donated can help up to 3 adults or 4 children - so today alone, our donors helped between 345-460 individuals!  What a GREAT feeling that is! I hope our donors are proud of doing such a fantastic thing today!   We appreciate EVERY single person that walked through that door (donors, deferrals and the 18 that were turned away).   We raised $1,535.18 for the Immune Deficiency Foundation with the raffles and we met a lot of really great people today!

The families of Team Hope want to thank 115 of you who waited the 2 hours (on a beautifully warm October Sunday afternoon) to donate (yes, there were SO many people that most donors averaged a 2 hour wait because the Red Cross was not expecting this incredible turnout - and neither were we!!!!!)  Rest assured, our next drive (in March) will have AMPLE staffing and donor beds - so the wait will not be the same as it was for this drive!

Okay, now on to the Winners of the Raffle Prizes:
Fruit & Wine Basket----Julie C.
Pamper Yourself Basket---Tammy H.
Gift Card Basket----Donna B.
Bruins Tickets----Jason R.
Sports Basket----Nicholas S.
Congratulations to ALL the winners - we hope you enjoy your goodies!!!!!!

Thank you ALL again for your continued support! You are ALL incredible!

CUT-A-THON
August 25, 2007 - Billerica, MA

On August 25th, Cut to the Chase Salon and Day Spa held a Cut-A-Thon Fundraiser for the  Immune Deficiency Foundation (IDF).  Adults and children of all ages came out to support a worthy cause!  We also had 2 Rex Sox tickets that were raffled off!  Each hair cut cost $25.00 with the entire cost going to the IDF.  Individuals who had more than 6 inches of hair to be cut off were also able to donate their hair to Locks of Love as well!

We had a total of 25 hair cuts between 3 hairdressers and that was from 9a-3p!!!!Between the hair cuts and the Red Sox Raffle Tickets, we raised.....$2050.00!!!  There were 3 hair donations to locks of love - one of which was a BOY who did it as part of a community service project through his school (he was 12 or so)! It was so neat!  Each person who got their hair cut received a large packet with ALL kinds of information about PIDD and then some pamphlets about blood donation as well.  We're very happy to know that at least 25 people walked out of there not only helping with our fundraiser - but with knowledge and information about what PIDD is.

We're SO excited to have had such great results!!!!  AND, the BEST part is...that someone who has dealt with PIDD actually won the raffle tickets!  Thanks again to our friends, family and, most of all - Allison Chase and her staff at Cut to the Chase Salon and Day Spa for supporting us through all of this!

RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE
August 12, 2007 - Chelmsford, MA

On August 12th, our friends, family and community endured the extremely hot weather and showed full force support for the Immune Deficiency Foundation and our first ever “Team Hope” event (all prior events were for “Team Will and Sasha.”   Because it was a Sunday blood drive, the Red Cross told us to expect lower numbers - but we still got out there with TONS of fliers and sent out email fliers - which our devoted Team Hope supporters forwarded to all their friends....we had high hopes....and we were pleasantly pleased with the results!

It was a busy day right from the start!!!  There was never a down moment and we got to meet a lot of really wonderful people within our community.  Here are the stats:  The drive was from 9am-2pm... By 10 a.m. we already had close to 20 people through the door!  We had 76 people walk through the door, 10 were deferred for one reason or another (either their iron counts were too low or they had been out of the country or something to that effect).  3 units just didn't quite fill the bag... We had 63 total usable units!!!!!

That's a FANTASTIC number for a Sunday drive!  They say that 1 pint can help between 3 adults/4 children - so, that's between 189-252 people that were helped by ONE drive!   Our total for the 3 drives so far is 169 pints and we were able to get enough blood to potentially help between 507-676 people in need!

We raised close to 300 dollars for the Immune Deficiency Foundation too as well! What an amazing day! Not bad for a Lazy Sunday!!!  Thank you again to our family, friends and community! You all are amazing!

4th of JULY CELEBRATION
July 3-4, 2007- Chelmsford, MA

July 3rd and 4th marked our first large scale event as “Team Will and Sasha” (now known as Team Hope).  Sponsored by Cut to the Chase Salon and Day Spa, we set up a booth on Chelmsford Common to raise awareness about PIDD.

In the wee hours of July 4th, a group of friends and family (and the staff of Cut to the Chase Salon and Day Spa) prepared (and wrestled with) hundreds of balloons for the well known 4th of July parade.  Our group of dedicated supporters marched in the blistering sun down North Road into Chelmsford Center.  It was SUCH a wonderful feeling to get out there and show the community that, not only does this disease exist....but it exists within the community that they all are a part of.

Here's what happened these past two days....sorta interesting (at least to me!)
By 5 p.m. on the 3rd, we were in full swing... Our parade event can bring in about 75,000 + viewers so this was HUGE for us.  Of course 75,000 people do not go through the common area where our booth was - that figure is for the parade itself, we do however have a lot of people in the common the night before/day of....and this year was no exception!

Here are the stats:  SO....we had 6 raffle prizes ranging from 95.00-125.00,
We had information on PIDD and on Blood Drives.  We sold Bracelets and had T-Shirts for sale.  All items were 5.00.  The raffle tickets were 1 for 5.00 and 3 for 10.00.  We handed out balloons and had some free frisbees and squeeze balls from Children’s Hospital and some pads of paper and squeeze balls from the Red Cross as well as 2 blood drive sign up sheets.  We also sold water at the end of the parade (1.00 for a 24 ounce bottle...not bad when a lot of vendors were selling them for like 3.00 for a small water!)  We gave out 1,000 business cards SO FAST!!!!  We made a $672.00 in profit from this event which went to the Immune Deficiency Foundation!

What a WONDERFUL way to celebrate our 4th of July!  A SPECIAL Thank You to Allison Chase and her staff at Cut to the Chase Salon and Day Spa and all her friends who came out to support us! What a blessing you all are!  Next year will be even better!!!!

RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE
June 16, 2007 - Chelmsford, MA

Greetings to all our friends and family!  We are SO happy to report that our 2nd blood drive went off AMAZINGLY!  When we were planning the drive, the Red Cross told us to aim for about 50 usable pints...

We got out there and put the word out – we went to many businesses and put up a couple hundred fliers…and, well - we are happy to report that our community answered the call to come out and donate in full force!  We had a total of 79 usable PINTS!!!  99 people came out to donate - but 20 of those people were 'deferred' because they didn't meet all the donor criteria..... How awesome is that…79 pints!!!!!

If you consider the fact that ONE pint of blood can help up to 3 adults or 4 children, that means that this drive helped between 237 to 316 individuals!!!!  The gift of life is the most precious gift that anyone can give….. THANK YOU to EACH and EVERY one of our donors for giving that priceless gift!

CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL BLOOD DRIVE
May 5, 2007 - Chelmsford, MA

On May 5th, we embarked on our Journey of Hope…..Team Will and Sasha (which became Team Hope in August of 2007) had their first event….a blood drive through Children’s Hospital’s Bloodmobile.   It was amazing – and never have we felt such satisfaction in doing something so profound!

Our family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the individuals who showed up and donated (or tried to!) for the drive.   To see such kindness was very touching.   It was a beautiful day filled with sunshine and giving!

Out of the 32 scheduled appointments there were only 2 'no shows' and a few cancellations due to illness.  There were also a few who made it out to donate but weren't able to do so because they didn't meet certain criteria set for those giving blood.  There were also a bunch of 'drop-in' appointments too!

Our projected goal was for at least 20 pints to be donated out of the 32 appointments we were allowed to set.  Our final total was 27 usable pints!!!!! Just in one day, our "team" of supporters helped change the lives of up to 108 children!!!!!!  If that doesn’t feel good, well – I don’t know what does!
